Liposuction Cost
Are you wondering how much California liposuction costs?
Liposuction cost is definitely one of the things you should look into before you go through with your plans for liposuction. After all, plastic surgery can cost a great deal of money, and is not covered by insurance companies so you will have to shoulder all of the expenses.
The expenses of liposuction can be broken down into the following:
Surgeon’s professional fee – This usually makes up the bulk of the liposuction cost, ranging from $2,000 to $5,000, depending on two main factors, namely:
- Surgeon’s skill and training – The more skilled and experienced a surgeon is, the higher the surgeon’s fee will also be. For example, a surgeon who has been in practice for ten years and has undergone various trainings in plastic surgery and liposuction in particular is likely to charge more than a new graduate who has only performed a few liposuctions.
In spite of this, though, it is very important to make sure you get a good surgeon, particularly one who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
- Extent of the procedure – Liposuction can be performed on just one area, or several. If there are more areas, the surgeon will charge a higher fee.
Aside from the area of the procedure, the techniques used also play a big role since some techniques are more complicated than others, and are therefore more expensive.
Anesthesia costs – If there is someone else aside from your surgeon who will administer the anesthesia, most likely a specialized anesthesiologist, he or she will also be charging a fee.
You will also have to pay for the actual anesthesia used, whether local or general, in line with the techniques your surgeon will use during the procedure.
Facility fees – Liposuction can be performed in a hospital or in an outpatient clinic. Either way, you will have to pay for the use of the facility and its equipment.
Normally, the liposuction cost for just one area using traditional suction-assisted liposuction technique is $3,000 to $4,000 and about $6,000 to $8,000 for three areas.
Liposuction can also be combined with other procedures, such as breast augmentation or a butt lift, in which case the costs will also be higher.
In choosing a surgeon, make sure you consider his or her payment options, as well. Some require only a small percentage of the payment upfront and then allow you to pay the rest in installment. Some will also accept credit cards and checks as well as cash.
